Augusto Contento was born in Lanciano (Chieti, Italy) in 1973 and lives in Paris (France) since 2000. He founded Cineparallax in 2004 with film producer Giancarlo Grande. Contento has written and directed a series of feature films that challenge any definition, blending documentary and experimental film in an innovative way. Sound and music occupy a very important place in Contento's films, and he has worked with great contemporary musicians such as Ken Vandermark, David Grubbs and Mira Calix. Augusto Contento's works have been selected to film festivals all over the world, including Locarno Film Festival (Switzerland), Roma International Film Festival (Italy) and Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival (Argentina). He was described as one of the most creative Italian filmmakers working today by "Filmcritica", Italy's oldest revue dedicated to film.
